Our story
Chalong Bay was born from two young French people’s (Marine L. and Thibault S.) passion for rum and Asia, and their dream of bringing French know-how and the traditions of rhum agricole back to the original birthplace of sugarcane.
We create natural, pure and authentic rums that combine traditions, cultures and artisanal production methods, while upholding a sustainable and ethical approach that respects the environment and local people.
We take you on a journey to discover unexplored notes in the world of rum, and invite you to travel through Thai cuisine with rums of unique character that express the Thai terroir.
Chalong Bay is produced exclusively from the first pressing of a sugarcane variety endemic to Thailand. It comes from small partner farms where it is grown without chemicals or pesticides and harvested by hand, without burning. We pay our farmers and cutters a premium price for the fruits of their labour.
We distil each batch over a direct fire using recycled wood, in a copper Armagnac-style still made in and imported from France, applying French distillation techniques.
All our rums are natural, with no additives – no added sugar or flavourings.
In our uncompromising pursuit of naturalness and authenticity, we use a rare and innovative distillation method. Our flavoured rums are steam-infused during distillation with fresh ingredients taken straight from Thai cuisine.
