Saneha, natural Thai gin
Saneha is a gin distilled at The Distillery Phuket in Chalong, Thailand. The word “saneha” means “passion” in Thai. The brand combines 100% natural Thai ingredients, chosen for their symbolic value in Thai culture, with French production techniques, using a copper still imported from France and direct-fired.
Makwean, the signature ingredient
The signature ingredient of Saneha gins is makwean, a rare wild Thai pepper hand-picked in Thailand's natural forests. It brings notes of spice, citrus and orange blossom.
Natural production
The botanicals are prepared by hand and used during distillation. Saneha gins are made with no additives, no added sugar, no artificial flavourings and no preservatives. The ingredients come from small local growers and are grown without pesticides or chemical fertilisers.
The range
Saneha (original)
40% ABV, 70 cl. The product page lists makwean, pineapple, ginger flower, juniper, sugarcane, coriander and clove. The gin brings together European and Asian aromas: spice, citrus and orange blossom, with floral, resinous and tropical fruit notes.
Saneha Luminous
40% ABV, 70 cl. Eight botanicals: makwean, Siamese pomelo, kaffir lime, star anise, grains of paradise, cassia, coriander seeds and juniper. The profile pairs fresh and warm spices (makwean, cassia) with bright citrus (pomelo, kaffir lime zest). The brand recommends serving it with a splash of tonic.
How to choose
For a floral, resinous gin with tropical fruit notes, choose the original Saneha. For a more citrusy and spicy gin, designed for a gin and tonic, choose Saneha Luminous. Both suit a classic gin and tonic: gin poured over ice, topped up with tonic and stirred gently.
Awards
Saneha gin has notably received a Double Gold medal at the SIP Awards 2026, gold at the International Bartender Spirits Awards 2023 and 2026 (95 points), gold at the Global Gin Masters 2023 and silver at the London Spirits Competition 2024. Saneha Luminous was awarded Platinum at the SIP Awards 2025 and gold at the Global Gin Masters 2023.
