Chalong Bay Pure Series, the benchmark white rum
Pure Series is the rum on which Chalong Bay was founded. It is a white rum made from pure cane juice, bottled at 40% ABV and produced at The Distillery Phuket in Chalong, Thailand. It is available in 70 cl and 20 cl bottles.
Raw material and production
First-press cane
Pure Series is distilled from the first-press juice of a Thai sugarcane variety. The cane is grown by small partner growers without pesticides or chemical fertilisers, and hand-harvested without field burning.
French-style distillation
The fermented juice is distilled in an Armagnac-style copper still, imported from France and direct-fired. The rum is bottled with no additives, no added sugar and no artificial flavourings.
Flavour profile
A fruity, smooth rum: pear, peach, coconut milk, vanilla, nutmeg, white pepper and sugarcane. On the nose, fresh cane juice and coconut milk, followed by notes of lavender. The palate moves from chocolate and coffee to pepper, nutmeg and vanilla, with a round, silky texture. The finish combines smoky and iodine notes, exotic fruit and leather.
Serving
Pure Series can be enjoyed neat or over an ice cube. It also makes a base for classic cocktails such as the daiquiri, mojito, ti' punch or caipirinha, or can be topped up with ginger beer or tonic.
70 cl or 20 cl?
Both sizes contain the same rum at the same strength. The 20 cl bottle lets you try Pure Series before buying the large bottle; it is also part of the Chalong Bay Discovery Gift Set, along with Double Barrel and Thai Sweet Basil.

Pure Series is the most awarded expression in the range. Its awards include Double Gold at the SIP Awards 2026, gold at the Berlin International Spirits Competition 2025 (95 points), gold at the International Bartender Spirits Awards 2026 (94 points), Double Gold at the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition 2019, gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2015 and 2018, and a Trophy at the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition 2017.
